EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and other forms of tapping are increasingly being used by mental health therapists in therapy sessions. Most people are familiar with acupuncture which is a form of treatment where needles are placed along specific meridian points to treat physical conditions; however, acupuncture also has applications in dealing with emotions. EFT involves working with specific points within the meridians – the same types of points that are used in acupuncture. EFT involves having the patient tap specific meridian points that are associated with a variety of emotions. The therapist educates the patient where those tapping points are and has the patient tap on those points. With the patients I work with I often introduce the use of tapping as a tool that they can use in between sessions to work on issues of anxiety Each tapping point when tapped sends a signal to a specific body organ which then releases a neurotransmitter which has an influence upon emotions. http://emapdrschulz.com
